The Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) has named five athletes who will feature in the upcoming Asian Athletics Championship, penciled in from June 12 to 16 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Olympic javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem will be accompanied by national thrower Yasir Sultan in the men's javelin throw event of the championship.
Olympian Shajar Abbas will contest in men's 100m and 200m alongside Abdul Mueed Baloch who will run in men's 200m and 400m.
In women's 100m, 200m and 400m, Esha Imran will represent Pakistan.
These players were selected after trials which took place in Lahore.
Pakistan Army's Uzair Rehman, who bagged a gold medal in the recently concluded 34th National Games, didn't appear in the trials. National Games gold medalist Naeem Akhtar also didn't come for the trials.
In men's 400m at National Games, Uzair completed the race in 46.7s to bag gold whereas Mueed clocked 46.8s to win the Silver medal. Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA)'s Asad Chatta bagged Bronze.
